Information regarding how male and female university students spent their money monthly in 2009 is provided in the bar chart and measured in percentages. Overall, it is evident that food was the largest area of spending for both genders and clothes was the lowest.
Starting with the items which had higher female percentages, 10% of the monthly female expenditure went on clothes, and the men’s figure was about 2% lower than this, making it the lowest amount in the chart. Areas of purchasing which were not specified also had saw a greater figure for women than men, with percentages of about 14% and 12%, respectively.
Two other areas were quite different, for two of the categories, Food and Sports equipment, men’s data significantly exceeded that of women’s. The former was the highest for both genders, but at 35%, men’s food purchasing was the highest of all. The greatest difference, however, happened in the latter category. Using 20% of their money on Sports equipment, men’s proportion was almost twice as high as the female’s.
Finally, the remaining proportions had no difference between the genders. The figures for Music at 15% and for Travel at 25% were identical. (196 words)
