Describing trends
In writing task 1 you will often need to describe trends.
There are a variety of words and structures you can use to give your writing a range in lexical resource and vocabulary.
You can also use adjectives and adverbs to be more descriptive and to show the differences between trends.
Different sentence structures
Verb structure
Subject + verb + adverb

Noun structures
There + be + adjective + noun + preposition + subject

Subject + have/ experience + adjective + noun

When there is no change
Phrasal verbs: level off, even out

Sales evened out over the following 5 years.

Temperatures levelled off between March and June.

Remain + unchanged/ constant/ steady/ stable

Stay the same
